App Store Performance of Vibe-Coding Mobile Apps

An analysis of global app store trends conducted by Appfigures reveals that only a limited number of mobile apps providing vibe-coding tools have experienced any downloads, let alone generated income.

Instance: AI App Builder currently leads in downloads, with approximately 16,000, and has accumulated $1,000 in consumer spending.

Vibe Studio, the next most downloaded app, has reached 4,000 downloads but has not yet produced any revenue.

The landscape is still evolving, and improvements to vibe-coding apps are ongoing.

New entrants are continually appearing; for example, Vibecode launched this year with $9.4 million in seed funding led by Alexis Ohanian’s Seven Seven Six.

Vibecode’s service enables users to build mobile applications utilizing AI directly within its iOS application, though Appfigures currently lacks data on its performance due to its recent launch.

Currently, most experimentation with vibe-coding technology occurs on desktop computers.

However, vibe coding is increasingly integrated into existing mobile applications, powering a growing number of them.

RevenueCat and the Rise of AI-Powered In-App Purchases

RevenueCat, a subscription platform utilized by over 50,000 apps, reports that it facilitates in-app purchases for more than 50% of all AI-built iOS apps presently available.

The company indicated to TechCrunch that the proportion of apps utilizing RevenueCat for monetization after being referred by an AI assistant or platform has risen dramatically.

This share increased to over 35% of all new sign-ups in the second quarter of this year, a significant jump from below 5% in the same period last year.

The platform, already used by nearly half of all mobile apps processing payments, notes that vibe coders are leveraging its services to automate subscription configuration with tools like Cursor and Claude Code, through the RevenueCat MCP server.

This allows for rapid creation, testing, and implementation of subscription models and features.

Challenges and Developer Sentiment

Despite the growing interest, a general consensus suggests that vibe coding is not yet fully mature.

Recent conversations with developers working with AI-generated code revealed that the technology still requires substantial refinement.

A survey by Fastly indicated that approximately 95% of the nearly 800 developers surveyed reported needing to dedicate additional time to correcting errors in AI-generated code.

Growing User Demand and Future Outlook

Despite these challenges, user demand remains strong.

A 2025 Stack Overflow survey found that 84% of respondents are currently using or planning to use AI tools in their development workflows, an increase from 76% the previous year.

A survey by The Information conducted this summer showed that 75% of respondents were at least experimenting with vibe coding.

Furthermore, a May 2025 study by Jellyfish revealed that 90% of respondents had integrated AI into their work, up from 61% last year, as reported by Business Insider.
