Cursor AI Valuation: Targeting $10 Billion in New Funding

Surging Investor Interest in AI Coding Assistants

Currently, there is a significant increase in investment activity surrounding AI coding assistants.

Anysphere's Potential Valuation

Anysphere, the company responsible for the Cursor AI-powered coding assistant, is reportedly engaged in discussions with venture capital firms to secure additional funding.

Bloomberg has reported that these negotiations center around a valuation approaching $10 billion.

Recent Funding History

This potential funding round would follow a previous investment completed approximately three months ago.

Anysphere previously raised $100 million with a pre-money valuation of $2.5 billion, as initially reported by TechCrunch.

Thrive Capital is anticipated to lead the new investment round.

Investor Response and Valuation Multiples

Neither Thrive Capital nor Anysphere provided an immediate response to requests for comment.

Previous funding rounds valued Anysphere at 25 times its $100 million ARR (Annual Recurring Revenue), according to The New York Times.

However, investors now appear prepared to assign even greater multiples to rapidly expanding companies.

The Information reports that Anysphere’s current ARR may have risen to $150 million.

Should the new deal materialize, it would represent a substantial multiple of 66 times the company’s ARR.

Comparable Valuations in the AI Coding Space

Anysphere is not alone in attracting such high valuations from investors.

Codeium, the developer of the Windsurf AI coding editor, is currently raising capital at a valuation of nearly $3 billion, as reported by TechCrunch last month.

Kleiner Perkins, leading the Codeium funding round, has valued the company at approximately 70 times its ARR of around $40 million.

AI Adoption Rates Across Industries

According to investors, AI is experiencing its most rapid integration within coding tools.

This rate of adoption is exceeding that observed in sectors such as sales, law, healthcare, and others.

Interest in Other AI Coding Companies

Sources indicate that investors have recently been reaching out to Poolside, another AI-powered coding company that is also in the process of developing its own Large Language Model (LLM).

Poolside did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
