Caryn Marooney on Getting Attention at TechCrunch Early Stage

Caryn Marooney to Speak at TechCrunch Early Stage
We are pleased to announce that Caryn Marooney will be a featured speaker at the upcoming TechCrunch Early Stage virtual event this July. Her previous appearance at our event last year was exceptionally well-received, prompting our invitation for her return.
A Distinguished Career
Marooney’s professional background is remarkably impressive. She previously co-founded and led The Outcast Agency, a highly respected public relations firm based in Silicon Valley.
Following her tenure at The Outcast Agency, she transitioned to Facebook, serving as the VP of Global Communication for eight years. During this time, she oversaw communications strategy for Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Oculus.
In 2019, Marooney became a general partner at Coatue Management, where she focuses on strategic investments in companies like Startburst, Supabase, and Defined Networks, among others.
The Art of Capturing Attention
Marooney is widely recognized as a leading expert in gaining public attention – a vital capability for any venture, whether it’s a startup, a non-profit organization, or even a simple school fundraiser.
As she succinctly stated last year, “Individuals are not inherently focused on new startups; in fact, widespread awareness is typically absent.” Therefore, the challenge lies in cultivating interest, and that’s precisely why we’ve invited her back to address this enduringly relevant subject.
Her insightful presentation from 2020 is available for viewing here.

A key feature of TC Early Stage is its format, centered around focused breakout sessions. Each session is led by a speaker who facilitates a discussion on a specific core competency essential for startups – including areas like fundraising, brand development, and public relations.
Furthermore, ample time is allocated for audience members to ask questions and engage directly with the speakers.
