Amazon India Now Offers Magazine Articles in Shopping App

Amazon Expands its Indian App with Feature Articles
In a continued effort to evolve into a comprehensive super app within the Indian market, Amazon is currently evaluating a new section designed to increase user engagement and time spent on its platform: Featured Articles.
New Content Category Launched
The e-commerce leader has introduced “Featured Articles” on both its Indian shopping application and website. This new feature presents articles, commentary, and analytical pieces covering diverse subjects.
These topics encompass a broad spectrum, including politics, governance, entertainment, sports, business, finance, health, fitness, books, and food.
The content is being provided by a number of prominent Indian media organizations and magazines.
Exclusive Content and User Engagement
Amazon states that certain articles are “exclusively” accessible through its platform. To further boost user activity, notifications are being dispatched to select Kindle users.
Recent Expansion of Services
This addition was observed and brought to the attention of TechCrunch by Himanshu Gupta. It follows closely after the launch of a complimentary video streaming service integrated within the shopping app in India.
A representative from Amazon verified the new functionality to TechCrunch. They explained that the company is dedicated to developing innovative and captivating experiences for its customers.
This new service is intended to provide readers with articles on a variety of subjects, such as current events, literature, commerce, recreation, athletics, and lifestyle.
Previous Content Integration Efforts
This is not the first instance of Amazon exploring the integration of reading material into its Indian shopping service. Back in 2018, Amazon India began showcasing gadget reviews and listicles, also sourced from local news outlets.
The company is continually seeking ways to enhance the user experience and broaden the scope of its offerings within the Indian market.
