Add Disk Cleanup in Server 2008 - Step-by-Step Guide

Maintaining Server Performance with Disk Cleanup
A well-maintained server relies on a hard drive that isn't burdened with unnecessary files. Disk Cleanup is the utility designed for this purpose, however, it isn't immediately available within the default installation of Server 2008.
Enabling Disk Cleanup in Server 2008
The process of enabling Disk Cleanup begins by opening Server Manager. This is done by selecting the Server Manager icon, located adjacent to the Start button.
Within Server Manager, navigate to the Features section. Then, click on the Add Features option, which is positioned in the upper right corner of the window.

The Disk Cleanup tool is integrated within the Desktop Experience Feature. Therefore, select this feature to initiate the installation process.

If Ink and Handwriting Services haven’t been previously installed, a prompt will appear. This message informs you that these services are prerequisites for installing the Desktop Experience.
To continue, click Add Required Features. This will ensure all necessary components are included in the installation.

Following this, click the Install button to begin the feature installation.

Completing the Installation
After the features have been installed, a system reboot is required. This is necessary to fully implement the changes and activate the newly installed components.

Once the reboot process is finished, the Disk Cleanup tool can be located within Accessories, under the System Tools menu.

The reason for the omission of Disk Cleanup from the default Server 2008 installation remains unclear. However, the process to re-enable it is straightforward. Further steps can then be taken to explore options for scheduling regular disk cleanups.
